We're big fans of votives, especially when we make them ourselves. They're great as homemade gifts, accent pieces and mood setting centerpieces for dinners.

Materials & Tools
- Gauge No 6 / 0.5mm copper sheet* (used in card making)
- Metal hole punch
- Air dry clay
- Metal snips (or you can use scissors with this metal sheet)
- Cookie cutters
- Roller
- Multi-purpose adhesive
Instructions

Roll out air dry clay to a quarter inch thickness and use cookie cutter to cut out the bases. Let dry over night. Then, roll out copper to alleviate any wrinkles.

Measure the diameter of the base and cut copper to just over this length so it slightly overlaps.

Punch holes in the top of the copper creating a repeating pattern. Then lay on a hard surface and ocver with a piece of paper. Run the handle of your scissors over the holes to flatten any kinks or bends.

Spread non-flammable adhesive around the edge of the clay and wrap the sheet around it. Secure with a clothespin or masking tape until it dries. Then glue the overlap together. Hold in place again until dry.
TIPS FOR INSPIRATION
- Try cookie cutters and hole punches in different sizes to vary the shapes and patterns of each votive.
- *We recommend using battery-operated tea lights with this DIY. If you choose to use candles, always be aware of heat when using them around metal.
